‘Stories we tell now’ was to examine how cultural artefacts that help to define our understanding of identity and the world around us. The aims were to revitalise and make anew these objects that define us. As folktales emerge fromthe intersection between people in relation to objects. This project provides an opportunity to explore how cultures have created relationships to the natural world around them and the objects in which they create to understand the world around them whether that be through social hierarchy or spirituality. The legends chosen exist due to the creolisation of many cultures that were brought to the Caribbean and then enmeshed with each other. For the artist, to bring them here seems like a natural order thing for these folk tales to live on with the descendants of those that migrated away from the Caribbean.
